The 1990s Yearbook series contains a new retro-90s logo design and artwork which also complements its sister decade series. Since its inception, the series has captivated audiences in numerous countries, including Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, expanding its reach far and wide. Since the release of Now 102 in Easter 2019, the corresponding Now album from 100 volumes ago has been re-compiled and re-issued on 2-CD sets on the same day. These are followed by Lloyd Cole’s delightful Lost Weekend and The Communards dignified piano-led debut You Are My World. In February 2023, 12" mixes all taken from the first three Now Dance compilations, originally released in 1985, 1986 and 1989, were collected on a special 4CD and 3LP set, Now Dance: The 80s, with artwork inspired by the original Now Dance 86.

Side note: Geth and I noticed when we were at the Sage Gateshead for the Kim Wilde gig last night that Level 42 will be playing there in October. The album features three Billboard Hot 100 number-one hits: " Independent Women Part I", " It Wasn't Me", and " With Arms Wide Open". Given that they both came out around the same time surely plugging the other album would have been a way of boosting sales?I think I came to it late and it was actually the Placebo cover in 2003 that introduced me to it (the Placebo covers album did that for a lot of songs).

A song from a different world, where the Iron Curtain meant that English boys weren’t allowed to date Russian girls, or something. I’ve got a soft spot for this one because it was used for one of the idents on VH1 Classic back in the ’00s, when Geth and I lived in Edinburgh and could still get Virgin TV with its huge variety of music TV channels. Note that whitelisting RYM will not stop Ghostery; you must disable the 'Human Web' feature entirely.July 2019) re-issued on 2-CD - 28 tracks with only Bob Marley and the Wailers and Gary Glitter missing. On my original copy of Now 6 the inner sleeve had images of the first 5 volumes and of Now Dance on one side and the tracklistings on the other. November 2023) 33 tracks with only Kate Bush and Lil Louis missing, although Lil Louis was just a bonus track on the original CD version and did not appear on the vinyl and magnetic cassette versions.

Nevertheless I am sure that Nik was delighted to see his first eight singles compiled on albums such as these. EMI and Virgin were the real winners as their first Now spin off – The Christmas Album reached the summit on 21 December 1985. Eurythmics - There Must Be an Angel (Playing With My Heart): Yet another 'heart' song; another great song from Annie and Dave, with harmonica from Stevie Wonder. Ashley Abram does a great job with the song flow; record 1 contains the big tunes and the more established artists while record 2 features a more idiosyncratic selection along with a most enjoyable dance side. The presentation of each release has evolved notably over time: from 1986 through to 2013, all double and triple CD sets were released in chubby Jewel cases which could hold up to 6 discs.

They are also notable as being the first time a Now series had released a compilation of hits from the years 1980 to 1982. All series with the exception of United Kingdom and the United States have been discontinued, New Zealand had two more albums released as a playlist only on Spotify, South Africa had three more albums released as a playlist on Spotify under DJ Kurtis. It features a particularly strong track listing, in my opinion, with post Live Aid Queen ( ‘One Vision’), what turned out to be Nik Kershaw‘s last ever UK hit single (‘When A Heart Beats’), Eurythmics‘ only number one (‘There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart)’), Kate Bush‘s seminal ‘Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)’, Arcadia‘s ‘Election Day’ and many more great songs. The nautical Dallas started that autumn and would continue every year at the same time [September – December] until 1990.
