The girls were excited to revisit passages from plays we've studied, but since we've only read ten of his plays together, there were many passages that they didn't have any context for. Wisdom, wit and wonder and the full richness of the English language to chime with the seasons and enjoy throughout the year. The format really allows Shakespeare to be a lot more digestible to people who aren't the biggest readers of Shakespeare a bit like myself.

This could potentially introduce a new reader to a play they haven't heard of though, which is always exciting! There are also passages to mark important days in the Shakespeare calendar both from his own life and from his plays You'll read a pivotal speech from Julius Caesar on the Ides of March and celebrate Valentine's day with a sonnet. Become better acquainted with the Bard: revel in a glorious collection of quotations from the works of William Shakespeare (1564-1616), designed to be read each day. And once you do you’re in for a treat; each day of the year includes a snappy introduction from Esiri and a piece of Shakespeare to suit the shifting season. The small excerpts and snippets were really interesting at times, but for the most part I came away wishing I had spent my time going through the actual plays and sonnets slowly rather than reading this. Esiri's entertaining and insightful thoughts on each entry will fill your year with wonder, laughter, wisdom and wit.

Some correlate to the day itself Of course March 15th would not be complete with the quote "beware the Ides of March," but other days are filled with delightful bits of prose that are not as well known but equally perfect none the less.Other stories, such as that of Shakespeare's son Hamnet, are more familiar but are helpfully paired here with pertinent excerpts from his writing. Heavy/larger items and furniture will be despatched separately and will not arrive with other purchases. The author has an eye for interesting details and a wry sense of humor, bringing fresh insights into a well-worn topic.
