The text is warm and loving, but a bit to sparse for my tastes -- I didn't like that it never mentions the father even though he is pictured (I think I'll add a line about him when I read it aloud the next time) or that it assumes a co-sleeping arrangement. He loves the dreamy pictures and I sometimes hear himself repeating parts of the book to his bunny :) The message is simple, "Nursies" when the sun shines.

The first night I told her that we were implementing it just like in the book, she screamed an cried. It is used like a proper noun, with no explanation, and only a single picture at the end displays what it is. Havener JD IBCLC CLC is a Board Certified Lactation Consultant, a Certified Lactation Counselor, and a retired La Leche League Leader.A la fin, l’auteure partage quelques trucs et astuces pour utiliser ce livre dans l’optique du sevrage nocturne.

I've come to the conclusion that my daughter isn't quite ready for night weening, but I think this book will help in the future. Ultimately, until more books about weaning are made and address different families/sleeping arrangements, I think I'm much better off creating my own picture book and story. The book closes with a heart-warming illustration of a nursing family: the toddler, nuzzled up to mama’s breast, daddy kissing toddler’s head, and even the family cat purring a love song.In addition to helping the child understand the concept of sleeping when it's dark and nursing when it's light, it also has weaning tips for parents at the back of the book. However the confusion could have easily been avoided by bringing that one illustration to the beginning. Three earnest animals and one misguided turkey learn about colors, clothes, and getting dressed in this Sandra Boynton classic board book. Nursies When the Sun Shines is a godsend to parents of nursing toddlers, exhausted from late night wakings for milk. He loved the story and asked for it daily, and then repeated the title when Mama said no more nursies before bed or during the night.

Hopefully, a toddler that sleeps through the night (or mostly sleeps through the night); a mom that is more rested and thus has more patience and sanity during the day; and a toddler that has come through the nightweaning process still bonded, attached and feeling loved. May also contain light spine creasing or a few markings such as an owner's name, short gifter's inscription or light stamp. a tout de suite voulu le lire plusieurs fois, et je crois qu’elle commence à intégrer les notions développées. When the toddler wakes at night for “nursies,” mom shows her baby that it’s dark outside, and assures baby that she’ll have nursies when the sun shines. The only downfall, as others have pointed out, is it is a bit flimsy but I guess the intended demographic is small. At that point, even with co-sleeping, I was exhausted and crabby and not the best mother I could be – so I knew nightweaning was what I needed to do for our family. I wanted to do it as gently as possible and not change the family bed/breastfeeding-to-sleep dynamic that was so important to us.
