The first stamps to bear King Charles’s silhouette are to be released on a special set celebrating the nation’s favourite flowers. As the crown jewellers pointed out to George IV in 1820, if the stones were hired, his crown could be made “to any expense”. The plastic sphere was, of course, well disguised: not only coated with gold filigree but also surrounded by a floating constellation of diamonds arranged in the shape of Charles’s star sign, Scorpio. With stamps bearing the image of HM Queen Elizabeth II remaining valid for use, the next few years may see two monarchs on our post, with both QEII and KCIII stamps in use, something which has not been seen for many years. We love this craft activity as children of all ages, from EYFS to KS2 can create their own artwork to be proud of; each collage will be completely unique, depending on the materials, textures and arrangements used.

Bluebell and Beth are The King's beloved dogs, and they have their very own Royal Dogs Craft Activity too! It met a sticky end in 1649, though, following the execution of Charles I during the English civil war, when the House of Commons voted to melt down the “toys and trifles” of the monarchy. Not that the king seems particularly fond of his mother’s headpiece: he has already removed it from the royal cypher, going back to the Tudor crown instead. Please make sure you are aware that children may put craft items into their mouths, and that they should wash their hands afterwards. A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “Flowers mark our celebrations, our joys and our sorrows and, above all, they unify us through a pleasure that we can all understand. His Majesty is known to be a passionate gardener and we are delighted that the first special stamps to feature his silhouette should be a celebration of some of the most popular flowers in British gardens.

Two kilos of glitz’ … the 400-year-old St Edward’s crown, which the king will wear at his coronation. One wonders whether Charles lobbied for this lost headpiece to be recreated for his coronation – perhaps in fibreglass, like the rooftop finials of Poundbury, his model town. The 20-year-old prince was crowned against the dramatic medieval backdrop of Caernarfon Castle, beneath a swooping perspex canopy, designed so cameras could get a good view of the action, while guests sat on modern red-stained bentwood chairs, adding a bit of Technicolor pop to the scene. Share this historic occasion with friends and family with this souvenir King Charles III Coronation Coin Card.As the name implies, the imperial crown is the ultimate symbol of Britain’s colonial era: a hat-sized monument to forcible resource extraction. When Charles was crowned Prince of Wales, he didn’t know he was wearing a table tennis ball on his head.

If you have any concerns about your own or somebody else’s health or well-being, always speak to a qualified health professional. Unlike Queen Elizabeth II’s famous silhouette, the King is not depicted wearing a laurel wreath, the late Queen’s silhouette has been featured on special stamps since 1966. This was a futuristic vision featuring swooping golden arches surrounded by abstract fleurs-de-lis and needle-thin crosses that jutted out like splintering lightning bolts. The set, which features floral designs in a nod to the green-fingered monarch’s love of gardening has been described as a significant milestone in British philatelic history says the Royal Mail. By using this resource, you acknowledge that it is the responsibility of supervising adults to ensure the safety of children in their care and that we will accept no liability as a result of the activity. The stamps show an uncrowned Charles in silver and facing to the right in the top left-hand corner and is part of 10 special stamps celebrating the nation’s favourite flowers. Does this mean the age of great British crown design, after centuries of adorning gilded headwear with gems of dubious origin, is no more? Charles, who is well known for his love of nature, is a keen hands-on gardener, who has spent more than 40 years transforming the grounds around Highgrove House – his private Gloucestershire retreat. The curious coronet was the centrepiece of an elaborate ceremony concocted for the TV age by Charles’s media-savvy uncle, the photographer Lord Snowdon.
