For video, I tend to shoot mostly within the Like709 color profile, as that gives me a consistent look in terms of contrast and colour in most shooting scenarios. But another great feature of the S5II and S5IIX is the ability to load LUTs into the camera and actually record your videos and photos with your own specific look. RealTime LUT can be a decent time saver for some people, especially those who shoot in their own environment with the same lighting setup and just want their finished look captured in camera. You can also preview LUTs, with V-log view assist, so you can capture your content flat, while previewing what it will look like with your look-up table of choice. Like the S5II, the S5IIX has a 3.68-million-dot OLED viewfinder with a refresh rate of 60 or 120fps. That resolution is up from the 2,360,000-dot OLED electronic viewfinder in the original S5. The Panasonic S1R and S1 both have 5,760,00-dot viewfinders, but putting that in the S5IIX would push its price up. MOV] in [6K/29.97p] [6K/25.00p] [5.9K/29.97p] [5.9K/25.00p] when Thermal Management mode is set to Standard. Panasonic's rivals have increasingly added 10-bit capture capability in this class, but the S5 II goes beyond these with a range of support tools and features that aren't as commonplace amongst the competition, so far. Panasonic also announced the Lumix DC-S5 IIX, a variant with a more extensive video feature set, which will arrive later in the year. Key specifications

Weighing in at a solid 740g with card and battery, the S5 II X is a well-made, 24MP mirrorless hybrid camera that inspires confidence in its manufacturing quality. It is fairly bulky, mainly due to the extended EVF housing that dominates the top of the camera. Dimensions are 134.3 x 102.3 x 90.1mm. The magnesium alloy chassis is dust and splash resistant, plus freezeproof down to -10C. The S5 II also sees its second card slot upgraded to the UHS-II standard, allowing the use of faster SD cards in both slots. Notably, even with the fastest V90-rated cards, UHS-II isn't fast enough to record all the S5 IIX's video modes, with the most demanding of its All-I capture modes and all its 4K and 5.8K ProRes modes requiring the use of an external SSD. Panasonic says it's been working with third-party accessory makers to provide useful ways to attach popular SSDs to the camera. When the camera is used at recommended operating temperature 0-40 degrees C. 6K and 5.9K at 30p/25p video recording stops once when continuous recording time exceeds 30 minutes if [Thermal Management] is set to [STANDARD].

S5 IIX | Digital Camera World Panasonic Lumix S5 II vs S5 IIX | Digital Camera World

Panasonic Lumix S5II: full-sensor internal 4:2:0 10-bit 6K (3:2) and 5.9K (16:9) footage at 30fps, 4:2:2 C4K and 4K at up to 60fps Like the original S5, the S5IIX is far from small and fiddly. It’s grip is reasonably chunky and it feels comfortable in the hand. It’s also good to know that the camera body frame is made from die-cast magnesium alloy and it’s sealed against dust and moisture ingress. However, it will be interesting to see how the fan vents cope with rain. IP streaming might not be high on the list of priorities of most filmmakers, but remote filming over the Internet is a rapidly growing field of operation, and right now the S5 IIX is the model to get if that capability is important to you now, or might be in the future.Key APS-C format video resolurions: [C4K] 4096×2160: 59.94p, 800Mbps (4:2:2 10-bit ALL-Intra) (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, LPCM)*, 59.94p, 600Mbps (4:2:2 10-bit ALL-Intra) (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, LPCM), 59.94p, 200Mbps (4:2:2 10-bit LongGOP) (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, LPCM), 59.94p, 200Mbps (4:2:0 10-bit LongGOP) (H.265/HEVC, LPCM), 47.95p, 800Mbps (4:2:2 10-bit ALL-Intra) (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, LPCM)*, 47.95p, 600Mbps (4:2:2 10-bit ALL-Intra) (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, LPCM), 47.95p, 200Mbps (4:2:2 10-bit LongGOP) (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, LPCM), 47.95p, 200Mbps (4:2:0 10-bit LongGOP) (H.265/HEVC, LPCM), 29.97p, 400Mbps (4:2:2 10-bit ALL-Intra) (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, LPCM), 29.97p, 150Mbps (4:2:2 10-bit LongGOP) (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, LPCM), 29.97p, 150Mbps (4:2:0 10-bit LongGOP) (H.265/HEVC, LPCM), 23.98p, 400Mbps (4:2:2 10-bit ALL-Intra) (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, LPCM), 23.98p, 150Mbps (4:2:2 10-bit LongGOP) (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, LPCM), 23.98p, 150Mbps (4:2:0 10-bit LongGOP) (H.265/HEVC, LPCM), *External USB-SSD recording

Panasonic Lumix S5IIX Review | ePHOTOzine

Motion pictures with 400Mbps or less: External USB-SSD, SD memory card with Video Speed Class 60 or higher Lumix menus are logical to navigate and the camera has enough customizable function buttons to limit menu-diving expeditions. Everything you need regularly is at your fingertips except for the USB-C SSD recording option, which is buried in the setup menu. Inexplicably, there’s also no option to add it to shortcuts at the time of writing. That aside, the S5II X is easy to get comfortable with, even for someone who’s never used a Lumix before. That increase in size and weight is most likely due to the new cooling system (complete with fan vents either side of the of the viewfinder) in the S5IIX and SII. This is claimed to enable unlimited recording for C4K 60p or lower resolution recording provided you have the power and storage capacity. Panasonic states that the camera may stop recording to protect itself from overheating if the resolution is higher than C4, the frame rate is set to higher than 60 or it’s recording in ProRes.

We're going to put a video out featuring the LUMIX S5II once we've been able to thoroughly test it, so make sure you're signed up to our YouTube channel! For now, take a look at all the key specifications for the two models and find out how the Lumix S5IIX differs frm the S5II. The cards that can be used for recording vary depending on the motion pictures bit rate and format type. The stabilization system also underpins the eight-shot 96MP High Resolution mode. The S5 II doesn't have the hand-held high-res mode from the GH6, and so requires a tripod or otherwise fixed camera, but it still offers a motion correction mode for preventing artifacts from moving subjects in the scene. New processor The LUMIX S5IIX is capable of RAW video output and All-Intra, ProRes 6 recording on SSD. It also features wired 7/wireless IP streaming function and USB tethering. 3. Excellent operability and functions to minimize workflow for one man crew operation

The S5 II does not come with its own charger and instead used the USB-PD standard to allow in-camera charging, operation or operation and charging, when connected to high-current power sources. For video, the historic thorn in Panasonic’s side has been its insistence to shun phase detection autofocus; that is, until now. The Lumix S5 II has hybrid contrast-detection AF for photos, and an all-new phase-detection system for video. Judging from its implementation here, I'm fully expecting to see this hybrid AF system in future Panasonic mirrorless cameras, certainly those for advanced users. The S5 II includes a fan mechanism, to allow video shooting for extended periods. The fan is at the top of the camera, with vents under the leading edge and along the sides of the viewfinder hump, drawing the heat up and out of the camera. As usual, the fan sits outside the body's sealed area, so the vents aren't a weak point for its dust and splash resistant design. To withstand heavy field use, the LUMIX S5II and S5IIX are composed of a magnesium alloy full die-cast front / rear frame and is splash-resistant 12 and dust-resistant.
