About this deal

The five layers of cork are what distinguish Kookaburra balls from other manufacturers. Most of Kookaburras' competitors manufacture their balls using a single molded center. Murzello, Clayton (20 March 2012). "50 years on, Nari recalls near fatal blow". Mid-Day . Retrieved 28 November 2014. Leather is used to wrap both the string and cork. Normally, the leather is dyed red (which shows that it is to be used in test and first-class matches) or white (indicating that they should be used for Twenty20 and one-day matches). Just recently, the pink ball was used in the first test match under lights between New Zealand and Australia at the Adelaide Oval in November 2015. In fact, there is no other ball that has been through the same number of trials and testing like the pink ball.

This ball should never be used with a batter or bat in the net as it can cause damage to both player and bat. Exceptional craftsmanship: The ball is carefully made using top-quality materials, ensuring both durability and consistent performance. Seam: It is another vital component of pace bowling. In the seam, the ball changes its direction just after it pitches the ground. It’s more difficult to handle seam than swing as a batter, since it is difficult to predict where the ball will deviate. Seam is completely independent of ball weight. Means both heavy & light bowls have the same seam. However, seam depends more upon bowler skill, pitch conditions. All balls to be used in the match, having been determined by the umpires, shall be in the possession of the umpires before the toss and shall remain under their control throughout the match. The ball is created using high-quality materials that can withstand intense practice sessions and matches. Its construction and design lead to a consistent bounce and movement of the seam, allowing bowlers to analyze their deliveries and batsmen to anticipate movement.

Baseball (ball): Traditionally made quite similarly, with a cork centre (today usually rubber) wrapped tightly with string and encased in leather. Spin: It is the ability of the ball to rotate just after the bounce. Generally spin is dependent upon pitch conditions & bowler ability, but the lighter ball will spin more than the heavier ball. SInce it is easier to impart necessary rotational force on a lighter ball than the heavier one.(You may have observe this with tennis ball while playing in your streets) Consistent bounce: The ball consistently bounces true, allowing for accurate judgment of its trajectory. Follow this by using a lighter ball such as the Lusum Safety Incrediball and bowl 3 more deliveries

The ball, when new, shall weigh not less than 5.5 ounces/155.9 g, nor more than 5.75 ounces/163 g, and shall measure not less than 8.81 in/22.4 cm, nor more than 9 in/22.9 cm in circumference. Now use the Dukes Heavy Weight ball to bowl a further 3 to 6 deliveries. Do not exceed this amount in one go as you are slowly building muscle memory and bowling more could cuase injury. Pink has proved to have a great contrast for both day and night time games. Pink is also ideal because it has high visibility in all the stages of its natural deterioration. The pink Kookaburra turf ball is currently being used in trials around the globe. The diameter of the ball used by females is approximately 8.25 to 8.88 inches (210mm to 226mm) in circumference.

On-field umpires are the keepers of the ball. If a player has a problem with the ball, he or she should bring it to an umpire. Unless an agreement to the contrary has been made before the match, either captain may demand a new ball at the start of each innings.

A high-speed machine wraps string, wool or nylon around the cork sphere. If the ball has an additional layer of wood around the core, this is created using a high-pressure mould and it trimmed in a similar fashion to the exterior leather. The bowler should feel the difference in pace they can bring the ball through their action and over time this will become faster, without any adverse effect on the accuracy. The ball offers consistent and true bounce, making it suitable for official Test matches and all playing conditions. Cork is used to make the core of the ball while the string is used to wrap the body several times for reinforcement. Leather is then wrapped over both cork and string. This is how the ball is prepared. Interestingly, the leather is either dyed red or white depending on the type of format that is being played.Excellent seam and grip: The well-defined seam allows bowlers to generate more swing and spin, adding challenge and excitement to the game.

The bright red colour enhances player safety by making the ball easily visible on the field. The surface of the ball provides excellent grip for spin bowlers, enabling them to maximize spin and control. If, during play, the ball cannot be found or recovered or the umpires agree that it has become unfit for play through normal use, the umpires shall replace it with a ball which has had wear comparable with that which the previous ball had received before the need for its replacement. When the ball is replaced, the umpire shall inform the batters and the fielding captain.

The White Cricket Ball - In the Footsteps of the Red Turf Ball

The only difference is that the leather used to make the white ball is natural and comes in an off-white color. Kookaburra covered the leather with a pigmented pure white finish to make sure that it retains its high visibility through many games. Assuming a full warm up has been completed with relevant stretches the bowler would then be ready to bowl. In a match of more than one day’s duration, the captain of the fielding side may demand a new ball when the number of overs, excluding any part overs, bowled with the old one is equal to or greater than 80 overs. The umpire shall inform the other umpire and indicate to the batters and the scorers whenever a new ball is taken into play.
