Description

We combined research with hands-on testing and experience, and we spoke with product experts and industry leaders to help us determine the products that make the cut. We carefully evaluated each portable monitor’s resolution, size, weight, refresh rate, price and more. These selections take into consideration what sets each monitor apart from its competition. Australian start-up Espresso Displays’ eponymous V2 model comes in 13- and 15.6-inch versions with a touchscreen, along with a 13-inch version without touch. Espresso’s prices are a bit more than some competitors, but all models share the same stylish design aesthetic, plus a bevy of features other portable monitors don’t have. Take the 15.6-inch touchscreen portable monitor, for example. It has a brushed aluminum and glass chassis and a super-slim (0.2-inch) design, with a 16:10 aspect ratio display and two USB Type-C ports. The maximum screen brightness is 300 nits. If you’re mainly traveling on land, then you won’t have bags with a weight limit and it’s easier to find a table to work on. In that case, you should have no problem taking the Xebec Tri Screen 2 around with you.

Windows: Screen size: 15.6-inch touchscreen | Screen type: LED | Resolution: 3,840 x 2,160 pixels | Ports: USB Type-C, USB Type-A, HDMI | Weight: 2.9 pounds | Dimensions: 14.5 x 8.9 x 0.4 inches | Speakers: Dual stereo Overall, I was very impressed with the Xebec Tri-Screen. I found that I actually liked using it better with only one screen out at a time, but that was more due to my dearth of useful USB-C ports. The concept is solid, and the whole thing worked far better than I expected. I tested this on a 13″ Macbook, but the frame is adjustable, and Xebec says it is compatible with every operating system and most computers. However, my current one-bedroom apartment in Sydney doesn’t have much room for a spacious home office set up with a desktop! I’m very limited in space, so I’ve found the Xebec Tri Screen 2 conducive to expanding my home work environment. Grab the Tri-Screen Adapterand included USB-A to USB-C connector. Plug the USB-A to USB-C connectorinto the USB-A end of the Adapter, and then plug the USB-C end of the connector into your laptop.

I use Citrix to log into my work desktop, and my Mac+Citrix didn’t skip a beat at handling the three screens. I fiddled with the various resolution settings to set it to a comfortably zoomed-in level, but after a few minutes, the smaller Xebec Tri-Screen 2 side screens stopped feeling tiny and felt fairly normal. You can also angle the screens slightly for a more comfortable view if you want. Inside are two 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 Full HD displays. These slide out on either side to create a triple-screen setup. It sounds cool, but you might be wondering if it’s essential to have two smaller screens attached to your bigger screen. The answer is a resounding YES, especially if you’re used to working with a dual monitor setup on the go. Screen size: 15.4-inch | Screen type: LED | Resolution: 1,920 x 1,080 pixels | Ports: 2 USB Type-C, Mini-HDMI, Mini-DisplayPort | Weight: 1.7 pounds | Dimensions: 14.5 x 8.9 x 0.3 inches | Speakers: Dual stereo The monitor comes with a cover that doubles as a four-position stand. This allows you to position the monitor in landscape or portrait mode (optional desktop tripod mount sold separately). Thanks to its ultra-thin design and light weight, this monitor is easy to transport. If you plan to use the monitor in a brightly lit space, the box it comes in can works as a monitor hood to protect the display from glare.

The tutorials are also geared towards more modern laptops, whereas I have an older model so some of the steps didn’t work for my laptop (2017, 13-inch Macbook Air – Pretty much ancient in 2023 but I still love it and will use it until its dying breath). The Tri-Screen is compatible with all versions of Microsoft Surface Book. However, adjustments will be needed:So I love using the Xebec Tri Screen 2 at home. But I don’t love using it for traveling by air, especially when you only have limited space in a carry-on and limited space to work on the go. Screen size: 15.6-inch touchscreen | Screen type: LED | Resolution: 1,920 x 1,080 pixels | Ports: USB Type-C | Weight: 1.9 pounds | Dimensions: 14 x 10 x 0.2 inches | Speakers: Dual stereo Use this piece to adapt the tip of a USB-C cable into a USB-A connection. When this is used, it will allow you to use a USB-A port on your laptop to transmit power to a screen.* Each of the two screens on the Xebec Tri Screen 2 has 3 ports. Again, I’m not very tech savvy so I don’t know too much about the different ports and connectivity options that come with the screen.
