It’s natural, given the only slight difference in name, to think the Ergotron HX is merely an uprated version of the Ergotron LX. That’s not the case. This is an entirely different monitor arm which pairs its increased capacity with improved build quality and a more professional look. Monitor arms are a great way to reduce the amount of desk space that your computer setup occupies. They also make your monitor look amazing, giving it a floating aesthetic that looks incredible if you’re creating a more minimal, clean-looking setup. When it comes to the best dual monitor stand for adjustability we suggest the Varidesk dual monitor arm. This mount has 360 degrees of rotation and pivot and a wide range of height and reach adjustments. Built-in cable management Monitor size limits should be respected as well. It might be possible to attach a 40-inch monitor to an arm meant for a 32-inch monitor. The 40-inch monitor may even come within the arm’s weight limit. A larger monitor will distribute weight differently, however, which could cause an arm’s tension mechanism to fail. How we test monitor arms

Support for multiple monitor sizes: Because 27-inch monitors have become so common— they don’t cost much more than smaller displays—we considered only monitor arms that could handle a screen at least that size. All the models we tested can work with smaller displays, and a few can even hold larger displays, up to 34 inches. This kind of fluid articulation is rarely found at this price tag if at all, so if you need to make little adjustments throughout your day, this is the perfect device for you. Each VESA mount has a fully rotational orientation, allowing you to set each monitor in landscape or portrait. Each mount is also capable of 90° tilts both up and down, so you can fully recline and still have clear visuals on your game. The other factor to keep a close eye on is the weight limit of the monitor mount. While most of the mounts on our list have comparable maximum weights, it’s important to make sure your monitor won’t put too much strain on the arm before purchasing it. It provides a good range of adjustment, with 13.2 inches of height and 90 degrees of tilt, swivel, and rotation. The arm’s height and tilt adjustment are comparable to others on this list, but it can’t swivel in a full circle, which may prove annoying if you frequently move a monitor arm to share your screen with colleagues. Free Standing designs have a strong, heavy central base plate that stands on your desk, anchoring everything to the spot. They’re not attached in any way which is great for shifting your whole setup at once, but they tend to have a large footprint.

Measuring only 12” across and 14” deep, this EZM stand has one of the smallest footprints you’ll find in a tri-monitor design, freeing up huge amounts of valuable desk space for the things you always wanted to work into your setup but never could. We’re not a fan of the arm’s installation. It has two clamps instead of one unified clamp, which is strange, because the base of the monitor arm is one solid piece. There are roughly a dozen screws to install. And the included cable routing can prove hard to tighten once several cables are held within the routing. These stands are fitted to the edge of your desk using C-clamps. They have a small footprint and are very secure, but they don’t suit particularly deep desks as your monitors will be too far away. Arm Type If you’re looking for the most adjustable monitor mount then we recommend the Ergotron LX. This monitor arm boasts a very easy adjustment with its Constant Force technology that is smooth and stays in place when not being adjusted. While it’s not as flexible as, say, our TechOrbit or Mount-It! choices, It still offers you 45° downward and 15° upward tilt functions, 16” of height adjustability, 360° swivel, and full individual VESA mount rotation.Grommet mounts insert into the circular cut-outs found on many desks built and sold for corporate offices. A grommet mount is also a form of clamp, but size of the mechanism is different, and the mount attaches the monitor to the interior of the desk instead of an exterior edge. Creators required to run multiple programs at once, writers that need multiple sources visible at all times, and gamers that need a larger field of vision all rely on multiple-screen computer systems, but these expansive setups aren’t without their issues. Minnesota-based Echogear is known primarily for making wall mounts, but they make a very nice desk-mounted triple-monitor stand. It lines up the monitors, but arranges them in an ergonomic and immersive curve, turning your three monitors into a single, gigantic curved display array. It’s an appealing option for anyone who wants to set it and forget it, and could be great for hardcore racing or flight-sim players. HUANUO hasn’t just gone above and beyond to match some of the specs and features you’d associate with more expensive products, their thoughtfulness is punctuated by handy little details such as underside padding on the base plate and detachable clips for cable management. Surprisingly, the Flo has a listed weight limit of 20 pounds and recommends use with monitors weighing at least 7 pounds. Most monitors fit within this range, but some heavier models won’t be compatible with the Flo.
