You can buy lots of Magnaclean spares (including the O-ring) but if the casing on the Magnaclean filter is causing the leak then you will need to replace the full filter. Even a small build-up of iron oxide debris in a modern efficiency boiler results in substantial efficiency loss and energy wastage. Not only does the system perform inadequately, it costs more to run and maintain. The question is, are they reliable? Do they protect the heating system as well as a MagnaClean or Fernox filter? My guess, is probably not. Whether you haven’t had a central heating magnetic filter before or replacing an old one, I will show you how. The difference lies in the size of the filter’s body. The bigger the body of the filter, the more heating sludge it will catch. Once a filter is full, it can no longer catch any more heating sludge. As the Micro is a smaller bodied filter, we’d always suggest going for the Pro 2. Where To Install A MagnaClean

Unfortunately, most people think the installation cost of a MagnaClean is less than an hour’s labour. Installation cost will depend on:The Adey MagnaClean Professional2 has been expertly designed to protect your home's central heating system by maximising the capture of magnetite and trapping virtually all circulating debris. These potential costs don't include installation, the price of which will vary depending on the installer you hire. We highly recommend getting several quotes from different installers to give you the greatest chance of finding the best deal for you. More magnetic filters

If you don’t have a MagnaClean Filter installed, then get in touch and we can arrange for one to be installed on your current boiler. You might need to remove the nut from the return valve on the boiler to remove the pipe first if there’s no movement in the pipe. You will see sludge collected on the outer sleeve of the core assembly, so remove the central magnet out. The part we need to clean is the outer sleeve. Strange noises coming from the boiler (usually a sign of sludge passing through and putting excess strain on components)

Central heating sludge is one of the biggest killer of heating systems. It can cause a whole host of problems such as:

Your Magnaclean device should have come with a lid spanner – use this to unscrew the lid slowly, to make sure that you don’t do any damage to the canister. Take out all of the pressure in the lid until you can turn it with your hands. And take off the lid of the canister. Lift out the lid and you should see a rather incredible/grotesque build-up of sludge all over the middle section that comes out with the lid. Therefore, most reputable installers will recommend fitting a Professional 2 with every new boiler installation. Unlike a MagnaClean, a MagnaCleanse is only fitted temporarily while the engineer clears the system of any debris. To do this, an agitator (VibraClean) is held against the outside of the radiators for up to 30 seconds to loosen up the deposit so that it flows round to the MagnaCleanse and can then be disposed of.

Fit the new Magnaclean filter by fitting the safety clamp first then push the filter onto the connections. Please feel free to get in touch if you would like a boiler service, which includes cleaning your MagnaClean Filter.
