Humility is a puzzling concept. We know a lot about humiliation, but humility is a new idea. It sounds suspiciously like groveling, bowing, and scraping. But that's not what humility is at all. True humility is, simply, acceptance of who we are. Be a positive role model for your students. Act in an encouraging, optimistic manner, if you believe your students will. Your level of positivism directly impacts the results you will see among your students. If they witness others improving when they follow your example, they are more likely to copy and seek the same results. Hazelden was established in 1949, with a forward-thinking approach to the problem of alcoholism—an approach built on emerging Twelve Step principles and practices, lay counseling and abiding compassion for the individual receiving care. The Betty Ford Center was established in 1982, with Betty Ford—"the First Lady of Recovery"—bringing unprecedented visibility to the problem of drug addiction and the promise of treatment and recovery. Sometimes you are all the example your students need. Don’t be afraid to share a personal goal with your students and stay positive in sharing your journey with them. Show them how optimism can create an environment for happiness and how positivism directly influences the success rate, of any set goal you may have. Everybody wants to feel in control. As humans, it’s natural that we want to move toward a feeling of autonomy. However, there are certain times in our life, when we don’t get to choose what happens. It’s tough to know when to accept your circumstances, and when to take the reigns and make a concerted effort to influence your life.

You have to chase your dreams, no matter what. The impossible just takes a little longer. One stroke at a time, one step at a time, the impossible is easy to achieve. Tori Murden These meetings should be focused on creating a positive, supportive, and happy teaching environment. A teaching community that is happy and positive can have a huge influence impact on its school. Beyond inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment and outpatient mental health care, Hazelden Betty Ford offers you today’s most innovative recovery support services and resources including virtual and phone-based coaching, web tools, mobile apps, Hazelden Publishing self-help books and more.Building this type of everyday environment in the classroom can be helped by introducing thoughts of the day for students at the start of every day. They can help not alone improve students outlook about themselves, but also their perceptions of their classmates. As you highlight the negative aspects of the classroom environment to your students, ensure that you focus on replacing the negatives with positives. This process has to be relentless. All negatives need to be rejected in favor of a positive. This could be considered as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

The three sections generally form a thematic whole. The first introduces a theme and concludes with a question which refocuses the reader’s attention on a main idea within that theme (sometimes the entire passage may be a series of questions). The second moves one or more ideas in the theme to the level of sustained meditation. The third prays that an ideal or aspiration contained in the thought or meditation may become a practical reality in one's own person and life.Obviously, we are not saying that it is possible to be happy all of the time. But many people manage to live in an overall state of happiness. But how do we achieve this? Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love. Lao Tzu

Never lose sight of the fact that with any behavior modification, rewards are an important cog in the wheel of success. This will prove to be a massively motivating factor. Remember that they will not always succeed, so teaching them to deal with failures is equally important.By the time we reach a step that uses the word "humbly" we have already started to put this principle into practice. The Fourth Step gives us an opportunity to examine who we really are, and the Fifth Step helps us accept that knowledge. Examples of the former are Psychology and Religion (08/01 – 08/07); Big Book study (08/08 – 09/04); AA Slogans (09/05 – 09/08); the Steps (09/16 – 09/24); Spiritual experience (09/25 – 09/27); Meetings and the rooms (09/29 – 10/14); AA service (10/15 – 10/20); the rewards of sobriety (10/21 – 11/05); How we’ve changed (11/05 – 11/25); Slips (11/30 – 12/07), and Fellowship (12/09 – 12/13). The following quotes can help us stay grounded and draw strength when we need to decide to be responsible for our experience. I found that every single successful person I’ve ever spoken to had a turning point and the turning point was where they made a clear, specific, unequivocal decision that they were not going to live like this anymore. Some people make that decision at 15 and some people make it at 50 and most never make it at all. Brian Tracy
