Description

ACO HexDrain is a plastic A15 load class channel drain built from recycled polypropylene for high strength and high durability. Designed with 8 possible outlet positions, this unique A15 channel drain can be used in domestic drainage projects such as along garage thresholds, landscaping projects and a range of DIY garden and patio applications. Both the ACO HexDrain base and grate come in 1m lengths and the base has markings at 500mm for easy cutting and measuring. ACO drains are renowned for their durability, reliability and attractive design. Over 50 years of experience in the drainage industry has made ACO drainage one of the best known and respected brands. Their range of A15 load class channel drains is a favourite amongst builders, plumbers, DIYers and landscapers alike thanks to their attractiveness, ease of installation and function. ACO HexDrain is a high-strength channel drain manufactured with a recycled polypropylene base for use in domestic applications. Popular amongst homeowners and property developers alike, the channel drain is simple to install and comes with nine other grating options so each system can be customised to the property it’s installed in front of. Compliant with Part M of the Building Regulations for England and Wales and Section 4 of the Scottish Building Standards

ACO DoorWay drain is very similar to ACO Threshold drain except it’s wider and so will be more effective at preventing water from running into a property. If your entry pathway is at a slight slope running toward the house, it may be worth installing ACO DoorWay drain to prevent any water ingress. The plastic grating with microgrip offers a non-slip cover for drainage systems around the house. In addition to the tried-and-tested nub structure, the grating is equipped with many tiny bumps that ensure surefootedness even in high humidity. The structure is moulded directly into the grate surface and is therefore particularly durable. The plastic grating retains its non-slip properties even after heavy use by being run over by a car. Features & Benefits: ACO Hexdrain Plastic Channel Drain A15 with Microgrip - 1m This is a term that is often incorrectly used referring the broad family of ‘Channel’ systems. While it is a ‘channel system’ with a surface element and an underlying channel component, it differs in that the surface interface is defined by a discrete slot as opposed to a grating. This can be utilised by designers for aesthetic benefit without the need to compromise on the drainage capacity. It is also used in areas subject to heavy loading where it is important to eliminate moveable parts (Qmax is an example of this). As with channel systems the materials can vary from polymer concrete to plastic and steel. Channel drains are typically structural formers that are integral to the performance of the system but may or may not be load bearing without the required surround detail. This is the generic term for linear systems that incorporate a channel together with an inlet detail that is embedded in the constructed surface. ACO Threshold drain is a slim plastic and aluminium channel which has been designed for entryways to domestic properties. Its slimline design allows the channel to be discrete and stylish without compromising on function. ACO Threshold will stop water from ponding at the entrance to a home. It’s advised that this ACO channel drain is used at the door threshold but not in the doorway. For drainage at the doorway, to prevent water from coming into the property, use ACO DoorWay drain as detailed below.

Because channels tends to be less deep than other systems it is particularly well suited when constructing drainage in areas with complex underground services and utilities. For this reason the term linear is used to emphasise the surface nature of channel drainage Trench drain ACO RainDrain is another ACO drainage application favourite. Having specially developed a lightweight concrete, Vienite, using recycled polymer, ACO can offer RainDrain as a fantastic option for domestic drainage. The strong, stable base is a great foundation for the galvanised steel grating that comes with ACO RainDrain. When installed with either of the options shown above the outlet spigot from the sump unit would have an invert depth of 285mm from finished ground level. ACO channel systems are used for external and internal applications, from Airports to Kitchens. Slot drainageThe channel is longer than it is wide with a cross sectional dimension design to contain the flow from the associated surface surrounding the installation. The channel body can bemanufactured from Polymer Concrete, Plastic or Steel. More advanced forms of slot systems like the ACO Qmax although not load bearing in their own right, are formers that facilitate the construction of a ‘non-interrupted’ pavement. Line (or, Linear) drain ACO DoorWay drain slots underneath the doorway at the point of installation meaning that the door frame doesn't need to be cut or altered. This is the same as ‘channel’ drainage and often used interchangeably. The term is typically used to emphasise the difference over the more traditional ’point drains’. This is significant as linear systems tend to offer economic benefits over point drainage as a result of reduced underground piping and easier construction that results from the elimination of complicated falls or levels.

A15 channel drainage systems are designed for pedestrian use, and offer great drainage solutions for pavements, patios and gardens. They can hold a maximum weight of 1.5 tonnes and are often crafted from plastic, making them easy to install and cheap to fit. Want more information on ACO channel drains? Each 1m length of HexDrain channel has eight different possible outlet locations in the base, you can choose any of these points to outlet from. Simply cut or hammer out your selected outlet point, the hole is approximately 65mm diameter then using the outlet connector (part of the Accessory Bag 19287) install the connector underneath your chosen outlet underneath the channel, the outlet connector has two locating arms which should connect to the channel, this then provides a vertical connection spigot directly onto the sump unit, the main disadvantage is that your access to the sump unit is restricted to 65mm diameter hole. The HexDrain Sump Unit is designed to be installed in conjunction with either the corner unit or the outlet connector to provide a “catch pit” and a horizontal outlet connection onto 110mm diameter PVC-U underground pipe. Use an outlet to connect this grating to the underground drainage of the property and this ACO channel drain will function without you ever knowing it’s there. ACO DoorWay Drain

Features & Benefits: ACO Hexdrain Plastic Channel Drain A15 with Microgrip - 1m

If you require a horizontal outlet rather than a vertical connection the sump unit should be used, the sump unit simply connect onto the 110mm diameter spigot at the bottom of the corner unit. To allow the water to enter the sump unit please ensure the internal base of the corner unit has been removed. To outlet from the sump unit simply cut the blank plate off the outlet point and connect to 110mm diameter PVC-U underground pipe. If installed in conjunction with the corner unit you will have maximum access to the sump unit through the 110mm diameter hole in the top to allow for easy removal of silt and general debris by hand.
