I loved that the plot was within a publishing/literacy agent setting and it is UK based with mentions of The Cotswolds and Dorset. When she receives the first chapters of an aspiring novelist’s work, she is unsettled by some eery parallels to her own past. But as more chapters arrive, it becomes clear that someone is determined not only to make her re-live the events that nearly saw her convicted of murder all those years ago, they want to re-write the ending to the story. DISCLOSURE: Thank you to Harper Collins UK, Harper Fiction, via Netgalley for providing a digital ARC of No One Saw It Coming by Susan Lewis for review. All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own personal opinions. Marina Forster is currently the Head of Fiction at a London publishing house which is now under the management of her wealthy American husband, Maxim Forster. She’s the mother of twin teenage girls, and as well as a house in Holland Park, they own a beautiful estate in the Cotswolds. My first book by this author. I had the audiobook read by Helen Stern, a great range of distinct voices for the array of characters.

A police investigation may end up turning up a ton of secrets. As the community has plenty to hide, not everyone is going to be thrilled at all of the secrets making it out to the light of day. It may very well be that everyone is guilty of something– they’re all acting like they have things to hide. Susan Lewis has a gift for telling warm family stories that also take you by surprise’ Jane Corry‘A gripping read’ Bella - Lewis was born in the United Kingdom on January 1, 1956 in Bristol. Her father was Welsh and was employed as a miner. In addition, he was an engineer, a poet, and thinker. When her mother was twenty years old, she got her father to buy a ring in place of a motorcycle and they were all a normal happy family from then on out. If you are looking for a psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to end, then you will not go wrong by adding this book to your TBR. This is a brilliantly twisty read that I cannot recommend highly enough. Hanna is a mother of two with a supportive husband and loving friends. However, the family dynamic isn’t the most straightforward and there are lots of secrets being withheld. When a life changing murder occurs, Hannah must work out who is causing her and her family so much hurt and threatening her family, before more damage is done. She got herself a Mercedes to share with her dogs as well as a house that sat up in the hills with perfect views of the sunset each night an a pool to swim in. She decided to try and navigate her way through Hollywood, but ultimately realized that Tinsel Town was not going to be waiting for her to show up. From then on she just had more fun, going on dates and attending glam parties and movie screenings. The majority of the story revolves around Hanna, with occasional interspersions from an unknown character who seems to know an awful lot about Hanna and her family. Sometimes life can change from how it is to something else in the blink of an eye. A second is all that it takes. Sophie Monroe is 14 years old when she goes missing one night. The first assumption is that the teen has run away, however, her phone and computer have disappeared and she’s taken clothes with her. This book was really well written and I was definitely gripped by the story. The first half was slightly slow but I liked getting to know the characters and their dynamics - even though I didn’t find any of the characters super likeable!😅 But unlike the second Mrs de Winter, Marina may not be as innocent as she would like us to believe …

One of the disclosures didn’t endear me to 2 of the characters, and didn’t seem to fit the rest of the their character traits, although with wealth it seems extreme behaviours are more commonplace. My Lies, Your Lies has gone straight to the top of my favourite Susan reads. Full of drama, intrigue with so many twists and turns, I promise you'll be surprised and captivated right to the end” - Carmel Harrington The plot focuses on family relationships, which we know Susan Lewis is a master of. It also includes the issues of infidelity, teenage pregnancy, mental health, assault and murder. I have no objections to books within books and while it had its moments, unfortunately this novel just didn’t work for me. There were a lot of characters both in the real world of the novel and in the fictional world of the manuscript, where the setting is changed from a publishing house to a tv production company. The characters of the 'real' story are unlikeable, privileged, and ruthless and, as such did not make me feel anything toward them. The characters in the manuscript, which is meant to reflect exactly what happened, are totally unlikeable too. I never really felt sorry for Marina reading the 'truth', the sex scenes, or the faintly veiled threats, so not only was it confusing at times to remember who was who, manuscript character or 'real' character, I also didn't experience any great sense of tension or worry that I think the author intended readers to feel as Marina becomes more and more paranoid. The novel is set in London where Marina Forster heads Janus, the successful fiction imprint of Hawksley Maine, an international publishing house. Literary agent, Noah, brings her a manuscript from a new writer. Usually Marina would assign this task to one of her staff, but Noah says that the author is insisting that she be the one to assess it. At times there were parts which felt overly dramatised but I’m not sure if that’s the writing or the narrators interpretation.
