I wouldn’t say the BMW 850 is going to be easier to repair than the Honda. BMW parts are always expensive and more difficult to source. It’s a bigger bike too so it’s not going to be any easier to ride on roads through Asia and Southeast Asia than the Transalp. Even though the Honda is new, I would still trust its reliability and it’d probably still be easier to source parts for it. Accessories: The Mini-Air Compressor includes attachments for inflating sports balls and air mattresses, which along with the pump and wires, fit in a compact nylon case. Consider factors like rust resistance, as it plays a significant role in the longevity of your carrier. Opt for carriers with proper rust-resistant coatings, such as powder coating. Where the m3 really pulls ahead is its exceptional finish. However, keep in mind that this superior quality comes with a premium price tag.

Tow behind with confidence: Heavy-duty motorcycle hitch carrier allows you to tow your motorcycle behind your vehicle. This means you can bring your bike along while still having the flexibility to transport other gear or vehicles, like trailers or boats. You’ll have the best of both worlds: the freedom to explore on two wheels and the practicality of towing. Another fantastic feature to look out for is assistive devices. They can include loading systems that lower the carrier to the ground, making pushing your bike onto it easier. These devices ensure safe and efficient loading, saving you time and effort. Durability and construction I call it free-range because it doesn’t need to be tethered to a steel floor and a cheese grater ceiling, like those old-fashioned carnie rides. Instead, this little electric motorcycle is free to ride around anywhere, thanks to its on-board battery. I’m not saying this is how your kids are going to ride to school from now on, but I’m not saying they couldn’t, either – though true commuting is probably out of the picture since the specs on this bike don’t inspire a lot of confidence.Versatility for every ride: Whether you ride a sleek sports bike, a rugged adventure motorcycle, or a classic cruiser, the motorcycle tow hitch has got you covered. You can securely transport your two-wheeled companion without worry with adjustable wheel cradles and tie-down points. As an experienced rider, I can’t stress enough how important it is to invest in a carrier made from sturdy materials like aluminum. Steel motorcycle carriers can also withstand regular use and exposure to the elements. Suzuki upped their game with the 1050 XT and treated their new Strom to rider aids to keep it in line with the competition. It received reworked suspension for a firmer ride, but engine remained the same with tweaks to get it through Euro5 with a slight increase to power and modifications to give it a torquier delivery.

Adventure bikes today veer on the heavy side, are dripping in electronics and are expensive – so expensive that riding them off-road will have you wincing over every rut and stone chip. But the Himalayan is something else; it’s incredibly simple, does away with all the complicated gizmos, is competitively priced and, due to its simple design, it begs for off-road action with next to zero consequences. You will find that the MotoPump and Dynaplug products look similar because they are. The two are mechanically identical. In fact, the companies worked together to develop the pump. Dynaplug supplied engineering and manufacturing expertise while MotoPumps supplied extensive knowledge and experience in building motorcycle specific pumps. The two Mini Pro Inflators have the same feature set though the MotoPumps version also includes a five-year limited warranty. And for all our adventure motorcycle guides in one place, have a look at the comprehensive Adventure Motorcycle Guides section.

And KTM aren’t messing about… the 1290 is a serious machine capable of anything you throw at it. It’s well setup for road riding (if you’re predominately going to be on tarmac then opt for the ‘S’ model instead of the more off-road focused ‘R’ with a larger tank, smaller wheels and semi-active suspension. Either way, the 1290 has a comfortable riding position, hefty fuel tank, swish electronics and riding modes including cornering ABS and much more. Honda capitalised on the bike’s success by releasing the 250 Rally and in 2021 the upgraded 300L and 300 Rally succeeded the 250 range.Sure, there are plenty of bikes, but it all depends on your other requirements, for example, are you after a single or twin-cylinder bike? Is this bike just for the TET or are you also going to be touring/ road riding etc. And ps. you are 100% right about manufacturers forgetting about ease of maintenance – it’s almost as if they make it hard so we have to take our bikes to their dealers! At 115g, this durable mini pump features a padded Kraton handle for comfort and its efficient and smooth pump action can fill a bicycle tyre to 160psi and will be capable of inflating a motorcycle tyre. Satin finish aluminium body is butted for lightweight. Easily fits in your luggage.

By far the most robust and sturdiest looking example in our test—the CyclePump—also delivered on the pumping power, coming in only five seconds behind the fastest time. The CyclePump’s five-year warranty is tied for the best here, but it all comes at a price. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for, and the pump’s heavy-duty nature and nice brass air fittings do inspire confidence. Now, its 7.5″ wide loading ramp isn’t the most generous, but it’s competent enough to handle most bikes. And that built-in anti-rattle device is a game-changer – a quiet cabin means a peaceful journey.Mad or Nomad focuses on adventure bikes for round the world travel. So, our motorcycle articles are on RTW bikes that are well suited and up to the challenge of overlanding long distances, can be easily used off-road, can take a battering, have a readily available supply of spare parts and are fixable the world over… But, this article isn’t focused on RTW bikes. A year ago I bought a Ducati Multistrada V4, an excellent motorcycle, I rode it a lot in Europe, but I think it will be difficult in Asia and I don’t want to leave it there and be at home without a motorcycle. I traveled many countries on different motorcycles, of course, my Ducati is more convenient for Europe, and in Asia I went to Royal Endfield and other 600-700 cc. I was sitting on a Honda 850, but I didn’t drive. I drove a BMW, worse than 1000 cc, but probably more convenient to repair, cheaper and easier to drive on bad roads.
