Description

Move on to either my hug hold instructions or my front facing carry instructions below so you can start babywearing! Simultaneously soft, strong and stretchy, this wrap is so comfortable you may find yourself wearing it for hours, whether pottering around the house or out on the school run.

The Moby, Boba, and Solly wraps are all safe for newborns as long as they are put in the wrap correctly. See the instructions above for the “hug hold.” You should not use the front-facing carry for a newborn in a baby wrap because it doesn’t provide enough head support. Material: Look for carriers made of cottons, linens or any other lightweight fabric, as well as something stretchy to make the wrap easier to use. “Materials with some stretch can allow for variations in fitting,” Dr. Ferry says. “Lightweight fabrics can be especially beneficial as we get into the spring and summer with warmer temperatures, and can help avoid overheating your infants.”

How we tested the best baby carriers

Lift the side panel closest to your body – Take the panel that is closest to your body (the one below the other side) and lift it up (try not to loosen). Take the long fabric panels (the ones that are beneath the middle panel) and cross them in front of you. Thanks to the Boba Wrap’s brilliant fit, your baby remains snug as you get on with other tasks, but you may find that you’re not completely hands-free, depending on what you’re doing. I do also use the 360 Ergo and both my husband and I love this when we are working in the yard or doing something outside. how should baby’s legs be in a carrier

Suitable from 7 lbs to 35 lbs (birth to around two or three years of age), in theory, but at its best for most up to six months There is a good reason why, for many parents, the Boba wrap is the fist carrier they use. It’s a one-size-fits-all carrier that is easy to use and will provide comfortable adjustable support for both parents and babies from birth on! Our tester with a younger baby found that the Boba Wrap felt really secure and that her baby stayed in the correct position. However, she sometimes needed to reposition his head to make sure the material wasn’t covering his face as he sometimes leaned into unexpected positions. Give baby a pelvic tilt – Take your baby’s legs and lift them a bit so they have a pelvic tilt. Their legs and bum should make the letter “M” – knees should be higher than their bum.

Boba vs. Solly Wrap: Main Differences

However, they shared that the Solly Baby wrap is better and much more comfortable to wear during hot days, more so than the Boba. Keep the wrap tight – Make sure your wrap is tight so it hugs your baby close to your body. This helps with both you and baby’s comfort as well as making sure the baby wont slip out.

While Solly Baby wrap’s material is sustainably made from 100% certified TENCEL (TM) Modal (sourced from the pulp of Austrian Beechwood trees) and sewn in Los Angeles. Length Some caregivers stop using a baby wrap after the first few months, others around 18 months, and some use one even with their older toddlers. Our Boba wrap is a stretchy elastic wrap made of soft cotton knit fabric and a touch of spandex, with a unique four-way stretch which ensures a great fit every time! You won’t need any added accessories to adjust this sling as your baby grows – the wrap is all you need. However, you are limited to one front carrying position, dependent on your baby’s weight. The Boba Wrap carries the International Hip Dysplasia Institute “hip healthy” certification as it maintains an ergonomic seat once correctly tied, which keeps your baby’s hips in the recommended 'M' position. Our testers loved the built-in loops for toys, teethers or dummies and the integrated storage for stashing your keys and phone, but it’s not as easy to clean as some carriers - with spot-clean-only fabric that could become stained over time. Both the Boba wrap and Solly Baby wrap carry the “hip-friendly” seal, as certified by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. The Boba Wrap is suitable for up to 15kg, however, due to its inward-facing-only design, you may wish to switch to a more structured carrier such as the Ergobaby Omni 360 once your baby outgrows the newborn stage.
