Fast and Furious is a series of action films starring an eclectic cast of actors, including Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Gal Gadot, Jason Statham, and Dwayne Johnson. Blacks offer the most improvement with inkier, silkier shadows, but the overall picture is also darker with generally average delineation within the darkest corners.

The Fast and the Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious were finished on film and scanned in full native 4K, while the others were upsampled from 2K Digital Intermediates. Europe's busiest forums, with independent news and expert reviews, for TVs, Home Cinema, Hi-Fi, Movies, Gaming, Tech and more. Comparatively speaking, however, the 4K video isn't rewarded with a significant boost even though whites are slightly crisper and more brilliant in some areas, like the clothing or various light fixtures.Cohen deserves some credit here, though, considering the scale of some of the practical stunts involved (it's crazy to think that the franchise actually involved real stunts originally) and the showcase of jaw-dropping driving that pervades the heist sequences - once you escape the scene-setting, and the comparatively petty races that dominate the first two thirds, you get into truly exciting territory for the breakneck double-finale involving cars, trucks and even a train.

The complete 4K Collection also comes with the same Blu-ray bonus disc that the 7-film Blu-ray collection sported a couple of years' back. Starting with The Fast and the Furious, the first six films were all shot on photochemical film in Super 35 format. Audio: English DTS-X ( Theatrical Cut only), English DTS-X Headphone ( Theatrical Cut only), English 5. The discs come in a very nice hardback book package with a hard slipcover and the book pages list all of the special features on the Blu-rays. And funny enough, the movie succeeds on that end, still entertaining after all these years and featuring one of Vin Diesel's best and most memorable roles thanks to a Point Break-lite plot that doesn't demand much of its cast. The soundstages are big, wide, and immersive, with generally excellent clarity, smooth movement, and firm bass. At startup, the disc goes straight to the usual menu window with options along the left-side of the screen, full-motion clips and music playing in the background. The Making of The Fast and the Furious (SD, 18 min): This is Universal's typical "Spotlight On Location" EPK. The new lossless and object-based DTS-X mixes are consistently excellent, ranging from A- (for some of the earlier films) to A and A+ (for the newer mixes).

Some of that ambient noise and the echo of the roaring engines running through the streets expands into the front heights, creating an amusing half-dome effect. When the Feds strongarm him back, O’Conner’s no-rules, win-or-die skills are unleashed against an international drug on various streaming platforms, except VUDU, which offers the 1080p HDX with legacy Dolby Digital. The score is peppered with suitably punchy song tracks, guided by DJ BT, and perhaps featuring a little too much Ja Rule (a miniature comedy character who thankfully didn't make the cut for any subsequent entries), but BT's wonderfully low thrumming scoring of the heist setpieces is highly underrated, adding a layer of palpably building intensity to the already thrilling sequences whilst actually conveying some degree of emotion during the more twist-laden events. Featuring one of Vin Diesel's best and most memorable roles, The Fast and the Furious is ultimately an excuse to see lots of fast cars, enjoy some vehicular mayhem and make street racing look legitimately cool, which it does successfully. Meanwhile, dialogue is crystal clear and precise from beginning to end and never drowned out by the vehicular mayhem. Two more films are planned in this series and I’m pretty sure they’re going to take the crew into space.
