About Cyrus Editor in Chief, Owner/Operator, Board Game Fanatic, Father of Three, and Nice Guy, Cyrus has always enjoyed board, card, miniature, role playing, and video games, but didn't get back into the hobby seriously until early 2000. Since it requires two moves to remove a corner block, the second player can always remove the corner block before the first can make it fall, and of course before all side blocks are removed. This does not add any additional cost to you and helps with the expenses of keeping in Life and Littles up and running.

You can choose what style fits your kid's personality, from frozen-themed to the original polar bear ice skater. What's more, since the game is symmetric, if it's to one player's strategic advantage to pass then it's to the other player's as well; thus, a pass should always be followed by another pass. Quite an expensive game, but my daughter and nieces adored playing this as children 20/25 years ago, so I bought one this Christmas for my granddaughters aged 5.

The object of this classic game is to keep Phillip the penguin on top of the ice, but as the game goes on, the ice blocks start falling. I don't know how many years ago my parents got the game, but it has lasted for years and years of hard-hitting boys and girls. The other day my husband was playing with our two oldest kids; it took a couple of minutes for him to set up the game when he handed our two-year-old the hammer; our two-year-old went to town and destroyed the whole game within five seconds.I love me my complex euros but I think it is important to remember the simple, accessible, cute stuff from the past that shaped out childhood. I have yet to have a kiddo who doesn’t enjoy using a hammer to whack ice cubes, and if I’m honest I love getting a chance to play so often a feel like a kid again!
