Description

In 1997 the fifth Chivas Master Blender Colin Scott created the exceptional Chivas 18, which went on to win multiple awards for its multi-layered flavours. Intense and expressive aromas with honey and nectar along with clear smoky notes and deep fruit flavours.

This means that each bottle can be traced back to one particular blending and from there, back through the years in cask, to the distillations that first gave it life. After that, they are mixed with a proportion of malt whisky that is over the average and the resulting whisky undergoes a long ageing process. This is the first in a series of 18-year-old whiskies from Chivas which focuses on wine cask finishes.

On the nose it's subtle aroma fills you up with flavors of sweet oranges, red apples, plump raisins and figs. Then pour Chivas 18 and cooled orange and cinnamon tea into a highball glass, add ice all the way to the top and add soda.

Palate: A velvety, dark chocolate palate yields to elegant floral notes and a wisp of sweet, mellow smokiness. The creation of our Custodian Master Blender, intent on making a perfectly balanced and exceptionally smooth Scotch. In honour of the Japanese art of whisky making, Mizunara, a rare and unique oak from Japan, has been used to mature some of this exclusive blend. This 12 year old scotch whisky offers a tidal wave of Strathisla malt and grain, and blockbuster taste notes from luxurious honey and vanilla to ripe apple. Chivas 18 Year Old is a very rich and multi-layered mix of over twenty of Scotland's most rare single malt Scotch whiskies.

This emporium sold exotic goods and a uniquely smooth Scotch whisky, hand blended by James and John Chivas, for a wealthy clientele that included Queen Victoria. The extended period of time provides added complexity to flavour and taste, with hints of rich chocolate orange and reminiscent of the creaminess of fondant, and is completed with a smooth, rounded and long finish.

The brand offers a range of whiskies aged for different lengths of time, such as Chivas Regal 12, 13, 18 and 25 years old, so that you can choose your whisky right down to the amount of time it has been aged for. In 2001 Chivas Regal was bought by the Pernod Ricard group but they kept master blender Colin Scott to keep the quality of the blend and exceptional taste. It’s a uniquely rich and multi-layered whisky which is produced using various malt and grain whiskies from distilleries all over Scotland, including our classic Speyside malt from Strathisla.
