Description

Amrut Greedy Angels 8-year-old 2nd release is another milestone in Amrut Distilleries' innovative exploration of the world of single malt whisky. The whisky, under the brand name Amrut Single Malt Whisky, debuted in Glasgow, Scotland on 24 August 2004. Radhakrishna died in 1976, and his son assumed the role of chairman and managing director of the company. The climate in India has a real influence on the shape of the product and it is said that 15% is lost each year during maturation, which means that we are unlikely to ever see an Amrut expression beyond 7 or 8 years old. While the whisky threatens to be completely overpowering, the balance on the finish is nothing short of ground breaking.

Amrut Fusion gets its name from the fact that it uses two barleys: Indian and Scottish – with the latter being peated for good measure. Barley is procured from Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan, while the peated barley is imported from Scotland. Palate better than the nose but there are plenty of single malt scotches and single malt irish whiskies that are better. According to head of international operations Ashok Chokalingam, "In our belief, it is not all about the influence of Sherry in the whisky.

According to Kumar, the whisky starts "reaching its peak in four years", after which it has to be tasted regularly because "by five years it starts to get too much tannin".The fermented wort is then pumped into a 5,000-litre Indian-made semi-conical wash still, where it undergoes slow distillation for 14 hours.
